February Greetings!

Hi all, quick update since Feb is already busy.

I’m appearing at Boskone this weekend! I have a reading tomorrow night (Feb 9) at 8:30, and I hope someone comes. I might read something new since old stuff is boring. I don’t have a kaffeklatch or a signing, so if you want to say hi or get me to sign something, then just grab me when you see me.

You know. Don’t GRAB. But stop me in a polite way that respects my personal space.

I was delighted to get an email from Randy and Jason of Beatnik Turtle. Old school podcasting fans might remember them from The Song of the Day that they did in 2007, and they wrote a theme song for my small press superhero book, Playing For Keeps.

Half of comic #2, about a kid leaving for school and his mom not really caring.

Now they’re still doing music, but they’re also doing webcomics. They started with ‘93, A College Comic About Slackers (which should appeal to various and sundry Gen X folks), but they’re going to be branching off a new project soon! So bookmark the comic to keep up with them.

It’s awards season (not wabbit season) so here’s my eligibility info!

  • Novel: Chaos Terminal
  • Short Story: “Magic Gets You 2-4” Read it, or be read to!
  • Fancast: I Should Be Writing
  • Fancast: Ditch Diggers’ (our last season!)
  • Semiprozine: Escape Pod
  • Best Editor (short) (with Valerie Valdes)

And if you’re looking for suggestions, I’m nominating the following:

  • Best game: Baldur’s Gate 3
  • Best game: Dredge

I won’t be planning to attend the Nebulas this year (unless I’m nominated, then I’d definitely try to make it), but I will be at WorldCon in Glasgow!

I have a schedule for the podcast now (which I’m already slipping on, damn you, life, for happening!) which includes exclusive, ad-free episode of I Should Be Writing delivered the day before it hits the feed for everyone. Support the newsletter to get a slice of that exclusive pie! (Or you can support via Patreon if you prefer.)

Coming up on the podcast will be Avione Lee and Gwenda Bond! Watch when I stream live on Twitch, or download the podcast later!

And hey, if you like the show, all that stuff about “like, subscribe, leave a review” actually does things for the new gods of the 21st century, the magical algorithms that we creative types must worship, lest we die in obscurity. So spread the word if you like my stuff.

See you next time!
